One Direction's Liam Payne reveals new tattoo and talks corrupting his mum - watch the video here

He also explained the meaning behind his massive feather tattoo, telling ABC news it was for his nan

One Direction will soon be the more tattooed boy band in the WORLD (sorry McFly) because Liam Payne's got a new tattoo, and it's of One Direction's song lyrics. Which he totally won't regret when he leaves One Direction to start an electro indie band in five years time ...

Talking to ABC's Nightline, Liam was explaining the story behind his feather tattoo on his forearm when he revealed he's got lyrics from a forthcoming 1D song tattooed on him.

"My mum hates tattoos but she likes this one, because this one is specifically to do with my nan. That was actually the one that turned her around to tattoos and she was OK with it," he said, pointing to the feather. "It's not so much what it says, that's actually some of the new words from one of our new songs that's not out yet. That is a big exclusive, that's actually one from the start of one of the songs, so that'll come to play later on."
Moving on from the lyrics, which read: 'I figured it out', the singer said: "The feather was a thing, when I was a kid we used to find feathers around the house and whenever we found them my mum used to say it was my nan leaving them around for us to find, so that was quite sweet."

"She actually likes tattoos now - she might get one," he says, agreeing with the interviewer when she accuses him of 'corrupting your mum'.

Rolling up his trousers at the ankle, he said: "These are the first tattoos I ever got. All of us apart from Niall have got these on are ankles. They’re just crosses, the screws which keep you together. I suppose it’s a keep you ground thing. Keep your feet on the ground."

Liam's got several other tats - the words ‘Everything I Wanted But Nothing I’ll Ever Need' and 'Only time will tell' on his right wrist.

In fact, Niall's the only band member with no tattoos. Something he might be glad about as his bandmates get more and more inked ...
